“Wow, you’re actually reading a book,” Daniel said surprised to see Vala sitting at a blue commissary table with a cup of jell-o in front of her and a small paperback in her hand.
“Why are you so surprised? I read all the time,” Vala replied, setting her book down.
“I would hardly consider mail order catalogues reading,” Daniel sat across from her with a cup of fresh coffee in his hand.
“You wouldn’t want me to buy something without knowing anything about it, now would you?”
“I don’t want you to buy anything, period,” Daniel remarked, taking a drink from the dark green mug.
“I know you like the clothes I buy. Just the other day I caught you staring at my-“
“Anyway, what are you reading?” Daniel cut her off not wanting the airman around him to hear the end of her sentence.
“Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Sam and I watched the
movie a couple weeks ago, but the book is much better. You see, when
“Don’t get any ideas. At least you’re reading an actual book though,” Daniel replied getting up to go back to his office to continue working.
Vala sat back with a smile and opened her book to see if the couple lived happily ever after. As she read she wondered if she and Daniel would get a fairytale ending to their story. She hoped so.
