AUTHOR’S NOTES: “You buy and I’m all sexual” isn’t mine. It’s from Ugly Betty. I think it defines Vala. As much as I love writing angsty!Vala, I heart writing her vixen side and Daniel’s annoyance and of course, their bickering. It’s just fun.
Beta’ed by wonderful Kath_Pup. Thanks a lot, hun!

CHAPTER 1
It was beautiful, bright day over
“I always hate when someone thinks of me as a stupid individual,” said Vala, tossing her hair slightly. “Well, except the times when I want them to think of me as one, but I mean, he is supposed to be some sort of Goa’uld villian in this story, right? Their ‘how he becamed evil’ story-telling sucks and doesn’t make any sense.” She breathed for a moment and tilted her head to her right side, wrinkling her forehead. “Do they really believe that there are actually some people out there who believe their plot? Well, I’d like to have their phone numbers.” She smiled wickedly at him “I happen to have a bucket of steam that I want to sell them.”
She was wearing a pair of green pants and a black t-shirt, whose neckline obviously hadn’t been cut according to any USAF regs. And she had been using Earth slang and using it so well that made him want to kick Teal’c’s ass for giving his infamous book to her so she wouldn’t have felt any alienation between them any more. Yeah, that was the plan.
He sighed heavily as she was keep going on about villians and dropped his glasses in complete surrender, rubbing his eyes tiredly.
“Do you always have to do that?”
Eyebrows arched elegantly. “Do what?”
“This...” he said, waving his hand delibaretly in the air. “This incessant babbling?”
Her left eyebrow raised even higher even higher. “Well, Daniel. If you’ve not noticed before, I’m under a lot of stress lately. All this Ori business and suddenly all this peace. I’ve got to express my feelings. And incessant babbling helps a lot.” She cocked her head a little, her face bearing her trademark smirk.“You should try it sometimes.”
He snorted and took another tool from his workbench. “No, thanks. I prefer supressing my feelings.”
One moment she just looked at him. There was a silent smirk on her face, glinting like the edge of a blade under the sun. Then she shrugged. “Your loss.”
He sighed, dropped his head.
But a moment later she approached him catwalking, still smirking like a Catshire cat.
“You know I wouldn’t be that annoying if I had a little fun.” She put her hand on his shoulder and began to look at him with big puppy eyes. “We could always go out clubbing.”
He shook her hand off his shoulder and stepped back from her personal space.
“Just forget it.” He had let her talk him into that madness once and he was still getting nightmares from that lovely night.
“Ohh, Daniel you know that we had a wonderful time together. We can also hit on the girls this time, if you want.” She said helpfully, her hand waving aimlessly in the air.
His mouth opened in awe. “What? You’re--” He cleared his voice. “You’re bisexual?”
She snorted, making something weird with her noise. “Sort of-” tossing her hair, she winked at him. “You buy and I’m all sexual, Daniel.”
“Absolutely no more clubbing.”
She pouted. “The last time you didn’t protest this much.”
He sputtered on his words. “ Ex--excuse me but you had been singing Paris Hilton for an hour and you had threated me that you would have begun to sing Britney Spears too if I hadn’t brought to you any club.”
“Well, in that case, you know I can still sing.”
“We’re not going to any club even if you are about to sing all the pop-songs in the world.” He said tersely, putting the last nail in the coffin.
“Have you ever been told that you’re no fun, Daniel?” His name rolled over her mouth and he instantly knew that she was turning her charm on him once again. He sighed deeply but not falling her stupid games.
“Well, actually I have been, Vala. By Jack, by some old friends, by ex girlfriends, by pretty much all of my college friends. He faked a smile, his head tilting at his side.
She threw her head back and laughed sincerely and he found himself liking her sincere laugh aganist his better judgement. “I won’t bother to tell you again then.” But when she stopped laughing her face became serious. She came to him, facing with him and being in his personal space once again.
“Ok. No more clubbing.” He took another step back as she smiled at him once more.
“What about going on another mission? I know you’ve found out another adress for that Ancient treasure that Qetesh had looked for, Infinitas. Shouldn’t we be out there looking for it?”
He sighed heavily this time. “Yeah, maybe. But you know the new policy of off-world activity. We can’t go around and look out for things as we like any more--thanks to budget cuts. I hate it as much as you but still..” He let his words die.
“So we’re still stuck here.”
“Pretty much. Sorry.” He mumbled.
“Really? I think you would be ok as long as you have your precious work to do.”
“Ahh, I—um, I didn’t mean me. I meant being sorry for you.” Her eyes went wild immediately and he cursed himself a little for allowing her to catch him like that.
“Aww, Daniel, how very considerate of you. Well, in that case, darling, I’ll have you know that you could take me out to dinner.” She said sweetly, smiling her one of her big, cheesy smiles.
He sighed and wondered how all conversions with her came back to where they started. “We’re not going anywhere, Vala. Just give it a rest.” His words came out a little more rushed than he had intended, but he was just so tired of her games. Being stuck with her at base without having to do much was tiresome at best.
She turned around and sat on his computer desk, her legs swinging in the air and she started to watch him as he worked. He might have told her to get the hell down off the table and sit on the lovely little invention called a ‘chair’, but she was being quiet for a change so he just let her get on with it.
After a hour or so, the air in the room got so thick with tension that he could see sparks. But she was still watching him without saying anything. He knew it was just another game, a sort of pissing contest. But he refused to give up because he was as stubborn as she was. After another a hour or so, he was so tense and his body had been leaning forward in a way, that all of the muscles in his back ache terribly. Even he had his towards her, he could still see her smile under the lights. It was indeed a game and this time he was losing. Not that it was a surprise.
“Why do you keep looking at me?” his voice was harsh and as tense as he was.
More silence.
“Could you please stop it?”
A faint laugh. “Well, It’s hardly my fault that you’ve got a pretty ass.” He turned to her. She was wearing her big cheesy smile, knowing well she had beat him again.
He groaned, walking out of his office. When he was nearly out, he heard a bouncing sound from behind, it was probably her getting down off his desk.
“Wait! Where are you going?”
He turned around at the door, dropping his head as he shoved his hands into his pockets.
“Going to talk with Landry. A mission for Infinitas is indeed in order.” He paused. “Meet me at briefing room in half an hour.”
When he was out of the room, all he heard was her sultry voice.
“It’s a date.”

Some time, precisely three hours and sixteen minutes later, they were all in ‘gate room. Next to him as usual, Vala had already gone mad, bouncing around like a hyperactive child with pigtails and all. Colonel Mitchell had been commenting on her new, regulation breaking black shirt. It had a sparkling pirate skull on it, and she had bought it on their previous mission to the mall. When she first had seen it, she had said that she had had to buy it because with it she could have claimed to be the new Captain Jack Sparrow.
When
“I have my BDU.” She said, shrugging her left shoulder a little.
“And it’s still not wise.” Daniel added.
“Ok, kids.”
PX6-341 was a spooky planet ,with a mist among the big trees and a muddy surface. The gate was in a clearing among the trees where the MALP had stopped beside a very funny looking tree.
“Not really like their favorite places.” Vala said, looking the creepy tree.
“Whose?” Daniel asked, wrinkling his forehead in confusion.
“Ancients, silly,” She said, casting a little glances away at his direction. “I thought they loved the places that are warmer than here and sandier.” The sun was shining but it was chilly. They circled around a little and Colonel Mitchell made them stop.
“Ok, people. You two,” He pointed at Daniel and Vala, “make your search for any Ancient artifact as Teal’c and I make the perimeter check. Stay in contact and be careful.”
“Lead the way, darling.” Vala said, her hand waving at him
as Teal’c and
Daniel took the path and began to walk in hopes of finding any Ancient ruins. He normally expected finding them near the gate but apparently this time, it was not the case.
“Strange.” He mumbled as Vala said spooky. He turned to her, smiling a little, putting his hand at her back to help her along the path.
An hour later, when they made their stop at a near tree, all the things they had found by so far were another little clearing among the trees, a little muddy pond, a strange kind of animal which had looked at them and had run from them immediately --poor thing, Vala had said— and more trees but no tablets, no ruins, not even special rocks, Ancient or not.
“Looks like It’s gonna be a galactic size waste of time.” She said disgustedly, while trying to knock off mud of her boots.
“Well, you were the one who kept whining about going on a mission.” He said, looking still around.
“Ahh, I thought it would be a hunt for ancient treasure.” She said, still dealing with mud. Daniel shooed her along and began to walk in the direction of what seemed to be a cave entrance. His eyes focused, his forehead wrinkled in concentration. She came up behind him, trying to look over his shoulder the thing that fascinated Daniel. On the wall of entrance the cave there were scratches that looked like they had been made by some furious monster. So she had no idea why Daniel was so fascinated by it.
“Daniel,” she said in a sing-song voice. “ Why are you looking at these scratches?” Her hands pointing the wall in front of them.
“Not scratches.” He mumbled. Then he turned around a little, facing her. “I think they’re an Ancient dialect.” He looked and sounded hopeful face and his voice in hope. Her eyes sparkled too.
“Really. What are they talking about?”
“I’ve no idea.” He mumbled, taking a step ahead to walk in the cave. Vala stopped him, putting her hand on his upper arm.
“Ya sure? What if those are a warning?”
“Well, If you’ve another idea..” he let his words die, looking at her expectantly.
“When have I ever paid any attention to warnings, anyway?” She said, waving her arm at him as if saying lead the way.
