Vala straightened, looking at her work, satisfied. “Well, now, what do you think about that, Daniel?”

He didn’t even look up. “Absolutely nothing,” he muttered. “I already told you I don’t care, Vala.”

Rolling her eyes, Vala planted her fists on her hips. “Oh, come on, Daniel. You have to think something of it.”

“Nope, not really.”

Vala’s eyes narrowed. “Well, if you don’t think anything about my decorating, maybe I shouldn’t even bother decorating.”

Daniel offered no response.

Eyes narrowing farther, Vala added, “Maybe I shouldn’t even bother moving in at all!”

Casually turning a page in his book, Daniel still didn’t look up. “Maybe.”

After a moment, Vala huffed to herself and resumed her decorating anyway. And Daniel just smiled to himself.
