As Daniel heard the soft whir signaling the door opening he looked up from his book and nearly lost his jaw. There, standing in the hallway, slowly sauntering towards him was Vala, clad in nothing but a bright pink lingerie with black lace…and if he was not mistaken a pair of furry handcuffs. No, he thought, that wasn’t right. But after doing a double take his first conclusion proved to be correct.

“Um, Vala…what are you doing here?”

“What does it look like, Daniel?” she replied coyly.

“It looks like you’re on your way to a Victoria’s Secret show…or a kinky sex party.” Daniel’s eyes followed her as she made her way deeper into the room, the doors closing behind her. Well thank God for that, Daniel thought. The last thing he needed was the rest of the team seeing this, there’d be no end to the teasing.

“Well I suppose that all depends on you, now doesn’t it.”

It took Daniel a moment to tear his eyes away from the negligee that seemed to hit her body in all the right places. “What’s this about, Vala?”

“What does it look like? I’m trying to seduce you. Although, I could do without you asking so many questions.” She paused for a second. “I believe this is the part where you’re supposed to ravage me,” she added helpfully.

Daniel just sat there, unsure of what to say next. Seeing that Daniel wasn’t going to do anything, Vala sighed and walked over to him. She pushed him onto the bed and proceeded to straddle him. It took a second for Daniel to process what was going on.

“Wait, wait! Get off!” he said as he tried to de-twine their bodies.

“Well hopefully,” she said with a wink. But Daniel continued to squirm under her. “Come on Daniel, let’s have a little fun for once. We’ve been stuck on this ship for weeks with nothing to do. Besides, I noticed that you didn’t seem to turn away when I entered the room.”

“Yeah, well that’s because I was in a state of shock.” He continued despite her scoff at his last comment. “Vala, we can’t do this.”

He finally managed to detangle himself from her and jumped off of the bed, leaving Vala sprawled on his covers.

“You know, you’re really no fun, Daniel. I thought we could both use a little distraction…” she trailed off.

“Distraction? Is that what you want?” He paused briefly. “What are you trying to distract yourself from?”

“From this, this place! It’s cold and compact and there isn’t any cable,” she replied sullenly.

But Daniel could tell that the ship wasn’t the only thing she was trying to get away from.

“How have you been sleeping?” he asked gently, as he sat down next to Vala on the bed, but still keeping his distance.

“Fine,” she said, as she played with the covers, a clear sign that she was anything but fine. He knew that she hadn’t been sleeping back on the base, and clearly that hadn’t changed with the scenery. Adria’s death had shaken her up and she still hadn’t recovered. It didn’t help that she refused to talk about it.

“Vala…”

“I know what you’re going to say, and I don’t want to hear it, okay?” She said as she got up to leave. “I’m fine, Daniel, I just wanted to have a little fun…but since you clearly aren’t up for it, maybe I’ll go see what Colonel Mitchell is doing.” She made for the door but Daniel caught her arm before she could leave.

“Why is it so hard for you to talk about what you’re feeling? To take things seriously, instead of playing all of these games?” He asked with a mixture of concern and anger. For better or worse, he cared about this woman, and the fact that she continually closed herself off from everyone around her when things got too serious irked him.

“Why can’t you let it go? I already told you how I felt about Adria, there’s nothing left to say.”

“Well, I’m sorry. I don’t buy that she meant nothing to you, that you didn’t feel anything when she died.”

“That’s you’re problem, not mine. You can think whatever you like Daniel, but I have a Colonel who needs some exercise.”

With that, she took her furry pink handcuffs and walked out the door, leaving a frustrated Daniel behind.
