The snow fell silently upon the midnight clear sky. The moon was shinning, and the light leaked into the bedroom of one couple who felt they were being touched by the spirit of Christmas.

Vala lay with her head on Daniel’s chest, arm holding him as his arms circled her body.

It was their first Christmas as a couple. An actual couple. And Vala’s first actual Christmas here on Earth. Once she found out what Christmas was, she turned into a little girl, as Cameron Mitchell insisted that Santa Clause was really alive and wanted to bring her presents. She then turned to Daniel asking him if it was true, and the look in her piercing blue/grey eyes and hopeful smile he couldn’t tell her the truth, so he said yes. She squealed and clapped her hands before pulling out a piece of paper of the notepad and writing "Vala’s Wish List" on the top of the paper. Smiling at Daniel she started to write.

He had even taken her to the mall to ‘Meet Santa’. She kissed him square on the lips as they both walked up to the jolly man in red. Vala plopped onto his lap and smiled. Daniel remembered that perfectly.

"Well Hello there."

"Hi Santa! I’m Vala."

"I know who you are. You’ve been very good this year I see."

"I have! I haven’t stolen anything and I haven’t lied or cheated!" she grinned proudly.

"Well that’s great for you! You’re growing up."

"I really am," she said with a bright smile.

"What did you want for Christmas this year?" Santa asked as Vala smiled and leaned over to whisper in his ear. Daniel didn’t hear what he said, but Santa nodded. "I’ll do my best for you there."

"Thank you Santa!" she grinned kissing the mean on the cheek.

She was so incredibly happy, believing truly that Santa knew she had grown up and went back on the ways she’d known for so many years. Daniel would never take away that pride she felt that someone noticed, someone she only knew as the man who made sure she was nice instead of naughty.

Even now, lying in bed, running his fingers lightly over her pale white skin, he felt as if the first time in his life, the spirit of Christmas was there for him.

"Daniel?" Vala asked softly moving her head as to look at him.

"Yes?" Daniel asked in a whisper.

"Do you think Santa will like the cookies I made him?" she asked, as hopeful as a little girl.

"I think he’ll love them," Daniel smiled reassuringly. "I know he’ll love them. And the Raindeers will love the carrots you pealed for them."

"Good, cause I want Santa to know that I really have changed," she said with a sad tone barely heard.

"He knows," Daniel replied kissing her head. "Go to sleep, so he’ll come." Nodding her head against his chest, Daniel felt Vala cuddle more into his body, so their legs intertwined and she was comfortable, head firmly over his heart, as she listened to it beat. Closing her eyes, he heard her mumble something, couldn’t make it out but he smiled. "Love you more."

Laying he hoped that Sam, Teal’c, Jack and Mitchell would hurry up and break into his house so that they could bring in the Christmas presents from Santa. They were coming over for Christmas breakfast, Sam and Vala decided they were cooking, which slightly scared the boys, but decided to humour them and eat it anyway.

Vala wasn’t a bad cook, if it came out of a box, she could make it. Or if she said it was a recipe of her Grandmother and knew it by heart-which was the case of the cookies. And Daniel had to admit; they were some pretty damn good cookies!

Smiling he heard Vala’s soft snore into his chest and saw the light of a flashlight hit against the wall outside his door, signally that Operation Santa Clause was in progress, he let himself relax and fall into a deep sleep.

Dreams of the sugar plumb fairies filled Vala’s dreams. The excitement of Christmas woke her up quite earlier than usual, as her eyes popped open and she gasped. Pulling away from Daniel she sat up and shook him until an eye popped open.

"Daniel! Its Christmas!" She grinned excitedly.

"It is?" Daniel teased sitting up and giving Vala a morning kiss. "Let me pee and we’ll go see what’s in your stocking." Nodding her head Vala moved to let Daniel get out of bed and trudge across the room in a pair of boxers and a t-shirt. Vala climbed out of bed and grabbed her slippers from the floor and placed them on her feet before she slid across the room to get her housecoat. Daniel insisted it would keep her warm in the winter as since the moment she started spending the nights at his place, she wore his boxers and a camisole, or sometimes, well most times, nothing.

Grabbing Daniel’s robe she walked into the bathroom just as Daniel was washing his hands. "Good morning."

"Morning love," Daniel smiled taking the housecoat and slipping into it. "You ready?"

"Uhhuh!" Vala grinned with a near bounce. Daniel smiled and picked up her hand, before the pair walked down the hall and stairs to the living room. Vala squealed with delight at the sight in front of her. The sparkling of the lights and ordainments of the Christmas tree lit the room, the brightly coloured and sparkly presents under the tree made the room sparkle. Glancing to where Vala left the cookies, milk and carrots, she noticed they were all gone. "Santa came!"

"He ate everything," Daniel winked as he walked over to his chair and sat down. Vala walked right over to the stockings, her name branded on one and Daniel’s on the other. Looking at them for a moment, she spun around and looked at Daniel. "Go ahead."

Taking the stockings down from the fireplace, Vala walked over to where Daniel was sitting and plopping herself on his lap. Wiggling herself to get comfortable, she smiled at Daniel. Opening the contents, she started to empty out the red and white stocking.

Daniel watched as Vala carefully removed the items from the stocking, placing the tiara she received in it, placing it on her head. He couldn’t help but smile and rub her back softly. Daniel knew how much Vala had been looking forward to Christmas and Teal’c had even explained to her about Christmas and how it came to be. He remembered that day, she sat crossed legged leaning forward, eyes wide and hair in pigtails. Christmas was officially now his favourite holiday.

By the time Sam, Jack, Teal’c and Cameron got there, the sun was sparkling on the snow and Vala was still clad in her pajamas; then again, so was everyone else. The living room was filled with presents, everyone holding a mug of coffee or hot chocolate, and smiling. Presents were opened and everyone laughing at Teal’c, who insisted that he hand out the presents wearing a Santa suit.

The smile on Vala’s face was indescribable; she was truly happy and loved. She had even hugged Jack when she opened the present from him and Sam.

Sometimes Daniel couldn’t believe that Vala was the woman he first met that kicked his ass; she was now a ball of energy who had more passion and excited more passion from himself than anyone he ever met.

Christmas was truly his new favourite time of year. For Vala made it even brighter. She was the Spirit of Christmas he had never truly felt until today.
