It wasn't something he would have done if he hadn't been so
tired from a day's hike over rocky terrain. Or frustrated by attempts to
forestall an all out war with the Unas and the humans on P3X-707 that were
looking more futile every time he went. Or annoyed by Landry's suggestion that
the situation wasn't worth his time, because apparently the Unas, being neither
human nor cute nor possessing in advanced technology, could be slaughtered with
impunity.
Vala, straddling his hips, hair brushing his chest as she laid down a line of
kisses along his collarbone, was attempting to distract him from all of that,
for a little while.
Daniel did not want to be distracted from Vala's attempts at distraction, so
when his phone rang, and Daniel saw Jack's name appear on the caller id...
Well. Daniel'd had a crap day, he didn't want to deal with Jack just then, and
maybe he wasn't thinking clearly about the fact that it was Jack's office line,
not his personal number, on the caller id screen, what with Vala's fingernails
scraping along his ribs...
Daniel pushed the talk button on the phone with more force than needed. "Jack.
Can a man get laid in peace or is that too much to ask?"
Long, long pause on the other end. When Jack finally spoke his voice was tinny
and sounded far away. Speaker phone. Crap.
"Say hello to the Vice President, Daniel."
Daniel coughed, felt himself flush all over in a way that had nothing to do
with Vala's breasts brushing his stomach. "Hello, Mr. Vice
President," he managed finally.
The Vice President took it rather well, all things considered, but Vala laughed
so hard she fell off the bed.
